Maumee Valley Presbytery is the
body of Christ, Presbyterian (U.S.A.), in northwestern Ohio and

218th General Assembly Recollections from Minister Commissioner Rev. David KochAs a member, I met with the Form of Government (FOG) committee for over two days earlier in the week. This group of 68 member commissioners and Youth Advisory Delegates studied with seriousness the implications of the proposed New Form of Government and we questioned whether there had been sufficient time for presbyteries, sessions, and members to consider this major proposal. There was clear evidence that the Task force had done fine work in exploring a new focus on mission functioning of the Church and the implications of this functioning on our form of government. There was much evidence of general support and dismay that time for full consideration of the nFOG had been lacking. The committee, after much debate and prayer, decided to refer the nFOG to the church for study so that the 219th GA in 2010 will be able to act with clear understanding and faithfulness in whatever action it takes. Of special interest in this referral is an indirect suggestion that more electronic means be developed so that the whole church might be able to review, comment, and make suggestions to the Task Force which will be able monitor the input of all who want to participate in this important process. The 218th General Assembly voted, after careful consideration, to accept the referral of this nFOG to the whole church for study. We, on the FOG committee, were please with this decision and look forward to working further in the next two years on study of our Form of Government. Rev.
