Per Capita Offering PDF Print E-mail

What is the per capita offering? The per capita offering is one of two ways that congregations contribute to the mission and ministry of the wider.   These dollars are the foundations which enable us to work together, “and are based upon the financial costs of living as a covenant community.  Sometimes referred to as the ‘administrative costs of the church.”

What is it used for?

On a national level, this offering funds ministries which support congregations, such as the “New Beginnings.”  (Our 16 Maumee Valley New Beginnings congregations constitute one third of the total churches involved nationally!)

On a Synod level, Dollars received from per capita giving enable mission workby providing for physical plant and salaries, administrative expenses and the cost of doing the ecclesiastical and judicial work of the synod.

Per capita supports our work together as Presbytery and Session when congregations are undergoing transitions in pastoral leadership or in mission directions.   Per Capita funds support our ministry teams as they discern God’s will for outreach with the poor, the hungry, with the homeless and the stranger.   They pay for committee and Branch expenses, for our Stated Clerk, and to keep us in order financially.

This per person offering enables us to keep an active website, and to provide leadership as we keep our community’s life orderly, faithful, and diligent in our role a stewards of many gifts.

In September, the Presbytery’s per capita was voted to remain level for the third year in a row.  Thus, the per capita payments for 2012 are:
